Dear all,

First of all, I am sorry that I cannot explain my situation in German (Not that good at German yet). I am planning to buy a MTB (beginner level) and ended up with two options.

1. http://www.bikester.at/giant-atx-2-275-469055.html

2. http://www.fahrraddiscounter.at/mountainbikes/hardtail-mountainbikes-29-/03570-rambler-1.0-hellblau?number=03573

The Giant one has got a better fork in my opinion; however, I didn't read nice reviews about the Tektro mechnaical disc brakes it has. On the other hand the CTM bike has a better brakes but worse fork than the Giant one. My budget is around 400 euros. Which one would you prefer ? Or are there any other alternatives you could suggest ?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for your reply. I am planning to hit the terrains around Vienna in the beginning. Which can be found here: http://www.bergfex.at/sommer/wien-stadt/touren/mountainbike/

I don't really want to get something for professional at the moment, as I will just start riding on those kinds of terrains. In the future I might consider of getting a professional one, but at the moment I really just want to limit myself to max 500euro.

Thanks,

Serhat

Well the main difference is the wheelsize, 27,5" vs. 29" and you really have to check for yourself which one you prefer - both have their advantages. Honestly I've never heard about CTM as a brand and as the components are quite on a similar level I'd prefer the Giant. But as I said before, both are not the best choice for real mountain biking!

BTW: if you spend a little more, maybe this one will make you happy -> http://www.radon-bikes.de/bikes-2016/mountainbike/hardtail/zr-team-275/zr-team-275-60/

As Stefan said, it is very advisable to look into used bikes at this price tag.

You will some used MTB in very good condition for 400-500€ which really deserves the name "mountain bike".

What`s your height?

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for your replies, they have been really helpful. I have got 2 other models which are quite similar to the Radon one you have recommend. (I have decided to increase my budget a lil bit and get the one you recommended or one of those 2 other ones).

Giant: http://www.bikester.at/giant-talon-3-ltd-275-charcoalgrey-467719.html

Cube: http://www.bikester.at/cube-analog-greynblue-467373.html

What do you think of those two models ? According to bikeadviser Suntour XCR fork is better than rockshox XC30: http://www.bike-advisor.com/bicycle-guides/budget-cross-country-forks-for-your-bike.html

Besides, I have been thinking of getting a 29er as I am a bit tall (186cm).

Thanks a lot,

Serhat
