  1. Hi Joey, Thanks for the feedback. I think you've convinced him. At €750, the price isn't too bad plus like I said the spec looks pretty good. In fact, I've seen a bike on there that I quite like myself for around the town. I'm struggling with my knackered Tai-Fun heap of crap! Talking about day-to-day bikes....how do people rate the Specialized Globe IG8? Apart from the obvious lack of gears, it looks like a cool bike albeit very expensive..... Cheers, BB
  2. Hello all I have a friend looking to get a bike for the city (hybrid or citybike), however I've not got much of any idea about this. I suggested the usual big names to him as I don't know the dedicated brands for this kind of bike however recently he's been recommended a Diamant. Has anyone heard of this brand before? http://www.diamant-rad.de/ The specific bike that he likes is the Diamant Elan Deluxe. It seems to have a good component spec but is the bike any good. It's apparently quite pricey. If it's no good, what else can anyone recommend? Thanks!!!! BB (Nick)
  3. Hey lads, Cheers for the invite but something has come up tomorrow and I have to work. If you were cycling somewhere closer I'd be up for coming out for a while but not this weekend Mind, if you are heading out there each Sunday, could anyone offer me a lift? I'd be able to repay you with lunch and a beer or two! If you can, drop me a text or email: 06648112992 Cheers, BB
  4. Hey. Cheers for the invite. Where exactly is Parapluie?! Cheers, Nick
  5. Hi again all.... Fingers crossed this post works. I'm having nightmare network problems today. Anyhow....cheers all for the info. I'll definately have to check out the Bikepark in Semmering this summer. I'm sure my brother-in-law will come over to check it out too. I'm going to post a thread on the treff forum: http://nyx.at/bikeboard/Board/showthread.php?p=1141371#post1141371 .....so if your up for a banter, lets meet up. Nick
  6. Does anyone fancy doing some trails this Sunday morning? I'm a total (and getting quite unfit), novice looking for some good trails around Vienna. I live in Vienna near U3, Rochusgasse and unfortunately I haven't got a car so I can only cycle about or use the S-Bahn or U-Bahn to get to places. If you know of anything good, and are up for a bit of a trek (nothing major please), put a post and we'll sort something out and then grab a couple of beers on the way back. Good way to rehydrate! Cheers, BB
  7. Hi all, Does anyone know where I can buy Endura shorts here in Vienna? I want to get a pair of MT500's but I don't know any online Austrian stores or any shops in Vienna where I can get good MTB clothing. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/images/MT500Baggy-zoom.jpg Ta! BB
  8. Hey Mike, Cheers also for the reply. I just want to clarify my technique is crap!!! Hence even if I come off 2m, I'm going to look like a total tit!!!! (And I've only done that once). I actually managed to spectacularly roll off that particular 2m drop as I chickened out, slammed on the brakes and came off. There is a video of the aftermath somewhere..... Still, I'm slowly building up my armour collection so padded shorts with hip armour next and then finally some arm protection and a good lid and I'm all set to wreak havok! I'll keep an eye on the Bike Treff forum, but I think Google will struggle! I'll put a post on there and see if anyone wants to join me on Sunday morning.....waeather permitting of course!!!
  9. Hi Max, How did you manage to break your collarbone!? I'll be in Vienna until the end of June definitely, or longer if I get a new job!!!! Still, the weather is quality for riding now, so I'm hoping it stays like this! So much for skiing! P.S. Nice bike! I've not ridden anything that aggressive before, although I imagine as you say, it's not fun up the hills. Maybe we can get Vienna to pay for a nice chair lift for us :bounce:
  10. Hello all, I'm hoping somebody out there speaks English as I unfortunately don't speak much German. I've been using Google translator to use this forum, however I'd like to maybe meet up with some of you if you are interested in doing some trails, drop-off's, etc, with a total novice! Like I said, I'm totally new to this game and I usually chicken out on drop-off's more than 2m, however I think with a little confidence, (and peer pressure), I'll go a little further and take the drops! So, if you fancy taking to the trails or maybe you're totally new to this as well, let me know as it would be great to meet up, share some tips and tricks and then grab a few beers at the end My current steed is a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp '06, however this Christmas I had an amazing time trying out a Santa Cruz Nomad with Fox 36's  and Blur LT back in England. (Thanks for MountainTrax for lending me the bikes ). Cheers, BB
  11. Here's the bike! http://www.rennie.me.uk/vault/new_bike.jpg
  12. Thanks for the welcome! I'm living in the 3rd district right now so it's easy enough to get about Vienna. I'm defianately more up for the thrilling moments!!! I tend to get a little bored on the sedate trails plus I'm not much of a fan of going up the hills... I tend to prefer going down them But in any case, I'll defiantely put a post on here once I get home from my holidays and it'll be good to meet anyone interested in coming out and not being held back a little by a noobie!! Speak to all when I'm back! P.S. A colleague of mine from work told me about this place when my old Kona was stolen. I put a post on here wondering if people had any information......
  13. Hi lads, Cheers for the info. I ended up around the North of Vienna coming back into the 19th district so it wasn't too bad. I managed to find some reasonable trails too so not a bad day out! But back to other business....sorry PitchShifter, but I'm not the fella you would wet your pants with! I'm from the UK originally but I'm living and working in Vienna now. But give me a shout if you're up for a rag around the trails. I'm away on my holidays from this Friday until the 3rd September, but let me know after then. As I said, I'm a total beginner as I've never done anything too extreme but I'm always up for new stuff!!!
  14. Hi all, I'm totally new here and I don't speak any German unfortunately. Sorry!!! However, I'm wondering if anyone here would be up for a bit of trail riding / XC around Vienna? I'm quite a beginner as I've done nothing too extreme, but if there are any groups out there who go regularly and wouldn't mind a new guy joining them, I'd be up for that! Cheers! 15. Hi, Thanks all for your advise. I'll keep an eye on eBay and I've posted the bike on the stolen bikes section, but I think you're right and I doubt it'll be seen again. Lets just hope the thieves suffer for this. Beanbag
  16. Hi all, I'm new here and unfortunately I don't speak any German, but I'm hoping you can help. My bike was stolen from my work place at Euro Platz, Wienerbergstrasse 41, 1120, Wien, and I was hoping you could help keep an eye out for it. The bike is a 2005 Kona Cindercone but it had magnesium DMR V12 pedals and unusually for this bike, city tyres. It was stolen on the 31st July, between 9am and 5pm. I will be happy to offer a crate of beer to anyone helping with the return of the bike! http://www.njrennie.plus.com/vault/pushbike.jpg Thank you all! Beanbag (Nick) ------------------------------------------- Bad translation with Google! Liebe Danke! Beanbag!
